Vodafone Case Study

THE SITUATION

New IT capabilities needed to be implemented across all Vodafone stores covering product selection, appointment booking, display management, the IT hardware catalogue, tablets and live TV. Cognita was responsible for project design, delivery and resource, in partnership with Vodafone Group global retail implementation projects.

THE CHALLENGE

Vodafone’s goal of upgrading 6,000 stores by the end of 2015 was ambitious. Cognita had to ensure the project was managed to approved budgets, under tight timescales, with a view to implementing a legacy transition at the project’s end.

THE SOLUTION

Cognita started by focusing on the people who would be involved with the project. We set up a ‘Centre of Excellence’ forum and social network to attract the best talent in the marketplace and used known resources.

75% of the consultants who joined the programme had already worked successfully for us.

We provided a hand-picked team of 20 consultants who specialised in retail or IT store concepts for the lifecycle, delivered through a CAPEX work order. The team was integrated over the course of three months and worked to milestone-based deliverables. To save money, we consolidated invoices to track PO spend, and provided resources through rate cards under average SI charge.

THE FEEDBACK

“Cognita mobilised a team of Market Deployment Managers to deliver a number of retail applications to Vodafone’s global footprint, performing outstanding engagement with the local teams and quality stakeholder management. I would highly recommend Cognita to support any programme of work that requires a core team to be in place and deploying innovation to retail markets successfully.”
